Home Bargains Store Approved in Frome, Set to Create Over 100 Jobs

Frome will soon see the arrival of a new Home Bargains store, following approval by Somerset Council and bringing over 100 new jobs to the area.

The store is planned for the Keyford Meadows development, near Sainsbury's and McDonald's on Sandys Hill Lane, with access via Oakley Way.

Local residents and councillors, including Gary Wicks and Helen Kay, have raised concerns about traffic congestion and the need for safer access for heavy goods vehicles.

Despite these issues, the proposal was unanimously approved after debate, and construction is set to begin soon after Christmas.

The new store is expected to open in 2026, offering more affordable shopping options and supporting economic growth for Frome, especially as the closest existing branch is currently in Trowbridge.

Plans for further commercial additions, including a food outlet and possible care home, are also in the pipeline for this fast-developing area.

Frome: Somerset's Autumnal Gem for Photographers

Frome, a historic market town in Somerset, has emerged as a top UK destination for autumn photography.

Its cobbled streets, charming bridges, and distinctive period architecture create a striking canvas for photographers eager to capture the season’s changing mood.

Surrounding countryside explodes with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, while local parks like Rodden Meadow offer particularly photogenic settings as leaves transform.

Frome’s appeal grows with annual events such as the Frome Festival and the festive Frome Independent Market, attracting visitors and lens aficionados alike.

Recent enhancements include the Mayday Saxonvale project, set to revitalize 12 acres of central space and create new hotspots for community gatherings and photography.

The introduction of a banking hub in September 2024 further increases accessibility, making Frome a welcoming spot for both locals and travelers seeking the quintessential autumn experience in Somerset.
